Transcutaneous Oxygen Measurement

Transcutaneous Oxygen Measurement (TCOM) is a non-invasive technique used to estimate the amount of oxygen in a person's blood through their skin. A special sensor is placed on the skin, usually on the chest or limb, which warms the area to encourage oxygen release. It then measures how much oxygen passes through the skin. This method helps healthcare professionals assess lung function and oxygen delivery to tissues, making it useful for evaluating conditions like respiratory diseases or assessing patients' oxygen needs without the discomfort of blood tests.
