Tracheobronchomalacia
Tracheobronchomalacia is a condition where the trachea (windpipe) and bronchi (the main air passages to the lungs) are soft and weak. This softness can cause the airway to collapse, especially during breathing, leading to issues like coughing, wheezing, and difficulty breathing. It can be present from birth (congenital) or develop later due to conditions like chronic coughing or trauma. Treatment may involve managing symptoms, using breathing devices, or in severe cases, surgical options to support the airway and improve breathing.
