Bronchomalacia
Bronchomalacia is a condition where the walls of the bronchi, the large airways in the lungs, are weaker or more flexible than normal. This causes the airways to collapse or become narrow during exhalation, making it harder to breathe and clearing air from the lungs. It can be present at birth (congenital) or develop later in life due to infections, injury, or other factors. Symptoms often include wheezing, persistent cough, shortness of breath, and recurrent lung infections. Treatment varies based on severity and may involve medications, airway support, or surgeries to improve breathing.
