TRACED Act
The TRACED Act, or Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence Act, is a U.S. law aimed at reducing illegal robocalls and caller ID spoofing. Enacted in 2019, it requires service providers to implement technology that verifies caller identities, making it harder for scammers to disguise their numbers. The law also mandates that the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) develop rules to enhance penalties against violators and ensure that consumers are informed about their rights against unwanted calls. Essentially, it seeks to protect consumers from fraudulent and annoying robocalls.
