Timed Up and Go Test (TUG)
The Timed Up and Go Test (TUG) is a simple assessment used to measure a person’s mobility and balance. During the test, an individual starts sitting in a chair, stands up, walks a short distance (usually three meters), turns around, walks back, and then sits down again. The time it takes to complete this task is recorded. TUG helps healthcare professionals evaluate a person's functional mobility, identify potential fall risks, and monitor changes over time, making it particularly useful for older adults or those with mobility challenges.
