Thermosphere

The thermosphere is the layer of Earth's atmosphere located above the mesosphere and below the exosphere, extending from about 85 km (53 miles) upward. It is characterized by very high temperatures that can exceed 2,000°C (3,632°F) due to the absorption of intense solar radiation. Despite these high temperatures, it would feel cold to humans because the density of air molecules is extremely low, so heat transfer is minimal. The thermosphere is where the auroras occur, and it also contains the ionosphere, which reflects radio waves and supports satellite and communication technologies.
