The United Irishmen

The United Irishmen were a political organization formed in the late 18th century by Irish nationalists who sought to unite Catholics and Protestants in the fight for Irish independence from British rule. Founded in 1791, they aimed for democratic reforms and an end to British domination. Their efforts culminated in the unsuccessful 1798 rebellion, which sought to establish an independent Irish republic. Although the uprising was crushed, the United Irishmen's ideals influenced future generations and played a critical role in the ongoing struggle for Irish self-determination and political rights.
