The Space Elevator

A space elevator is a proposed structure that would allow for transportation from Earth's surface to space without rockets. It consists of a long cable anchored to the ground and extending into space, with a counterweight at the other end. As the Earth rotates, the centrifugal force would help keep the cable taut. Climbing vehicles would ascend the cable, making it more efficient and cost-effective to send payloads and people into orbit. While still theoretical, advances in material science, like high-strength materials, are essential for making this idea feasible.
