The Royal Albatross
The Royal Albatross is one of the largest seabirds, known for its impressive wingspan, which can exceed 10 feet (3 meters). These birds are found mainly in the Southern Ocean, particularly around New Zealand. They are remarkable gliders, capable of flying long distances without flapping their wings, thanks to their large wings adapted for dynamic soaring. Royal Albatrosses are also known for their courtship rituals, which involve elaborate displays. They primarily feed on fish and squid and have a long lifespan, often forming monogamous pairs that mate for life. Their populations face threats from fishing practices and habitat loss.
