Diomedea exulans

Diomedea exulans, commonly known as the wandering albatross, is a large seabird renowned for its impressive wingspan—about 3.5 meters (11.5 feet)—making it one of the largest flying birds. It spends most of its life soaring over the Southern Ocean, covering great distances with minimal wing flaps thanks to its efficient wings designed for gliding on wind currents. The wandering albatross feeds mainly on fish and squid, often scavenging from the ocean surface. It is a vulnerable species due to threats like habitat disturbance and longline fishing, but it plays a key role in marine ecosystems.
