The Moon Illusion
The Moon Illusion is an optical phenomenon where the Moon appears larger when it's near the horizon than when it is higher in the sky. This happens because our brain interprets the size of the Moon based on contextual cues from the surrounding landscape. When the Moon is near other objects (like trees or buildings), it seems bigger. In reality, its size doesn't change; it's an effect of perception. The illusion can make the Moon appear up to 50% larger at the horizon compared to when it’s overhead, even though the distance remains the same.
