"The League of the Iroquois"

The League of the Iroquois, also known as the Iroquois Confederacy or Haudenosaunee, is a grouping of six Native American nations—Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, and Tuscarora—in the northeastern United States. Formed before European contact, this alliance was established to promote peace, mutual defense, and cooperation among its members. The League had a sophisticated system of governance, including a council of chiefs representing each nation. It played a significant role in North American history, particularly in relations with European settlers and during conflicts such as the American Revolutionary War.
