The Jesus Seminar

The Jesus Seminar is a group of scholars, founded in the late 1980s, that aims to re-examine the historical life and teachings of Jesus Christ. They evaluate ancient texts, such as the Gospels, to discern which statements and actions can be reliably attributed to Jesus and which may have been altered or fabricated over time. Using a voting system, they classify passages based on their authenticity, challenging traditional beliefs about Jesus. The Seminar encourages open discussion and critical analysis of religious texts, contributing to a deeper understanding of Jesus' historical figure separate from theological interpretations.
