The Great Bath

The Great Bath is an ancient public bathing structure discovered in the city of Mohenjo-Daro, part of the Indus Valley Civilization, which thrived around 2500 BCE in present-day Pakistan. This rectangular pool, made of tightly fitted bricks and waterproofed with natural tar, measures about 12 meters long and 7 meters wide. It likely served as a place for communal bathing, ritual purification, or social gatherings. The Great Bath reflects the sophisticated engineering, urban planning, and social practices of the Indus Valley people, showcasing their emphasis on hygiene and community life in one of the world's earliest urban centers.
