The Digital Dark Age
The Digital Dark Age refers to the concern that future generations may lose access to important digital information due to rapid technological changes, outdated formats, or data degradation. As we increasingly store knowledge online and in electronic formats, there’s a risk that as technology evolves, older data becomes inaccessible or unreadable. This could lead to gaps in historical knowledge, cultural heritage, and scientific data if we don't find ways to preserve and migrate this information effectively. In essence, it highlights the potential loss of our digital record-keeping capabilities.
