Memory Hole

A "Memory Hole" refers to a process or feature that allows information to be intentionally hidden, erased, or suppressed from public view or records. Historically, it was a physical chute used in Orwell’s "1984" to discard unwanted documents, symbolizing the erasure of inconvenient truth. In modern terms, it describes how organizations, governments, or media might remove or hide data or past statements to control narratives, prevent accountability, or manipulate historical understanding. Essentially, a memory hole is a mechanism for selectively forgetting or concealing information to shape perceptions or maintain power.
