The Champagne region
The Champagne region, located in northeastern France, is famous worldwide for its sparkling wine, also called Champagne. This unique drink is made primarily from three grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier. The region's chalky soil and cool climate create ideal conditions for growing these grapes. Champagne is produced using a specific method called “méthode champenoise,” which involves a second fermentation in the bottle to create its characteristic bubbles. The region is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, reflecting its rich history and significance in the world of wine.
