The Cell Cycle

The cell cycle is the process that cells go through to grow, divide, and produce new cells. It has several phases: in the first phase, the cell grows and prepares by copying its DNA; then it enters mitosis, where the cell's nucleus divides into two, ensuring each new cell gets a complete set of genetic material. After division, the new cells enter a resting or growth phase called interphase, ready to repeat the cycle. This process is vital for growth, repair, and maintaining healthy tissues in living organisms.
