The Black Prince

The Black Prince, born Edward of Woodstock in 1330, was the eldest son of King Edward III of England. He gained fame during the Hundred Years' War, particularly for his pivotal role in the Battles of Crécy (1346) and Poitiers (1356), where he displayed remarkable military skill and bravery. Known for wearing distinctive black armor, he became a symbol of chivalry and knighthood. The title "Black Prince" may refer to the color of his armor or to his reputation. He died in 1376, before he could ascend the throne, and his legacy remains significant in English history.
