The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study
The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study is a research project that explores the impact of stressful or traumatic events in childhood on long-term health and well-being. Conducted by the CDC and Kaiser Permanente, it identifies ten types of adverse experiences, such as abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction. The study found that higher ACE scores are linked to increased risks of physical and mental health issues later in life, including heart disease and depression. This research highlights the importance of early interventions and support to help mitigate these negative effects and promote resilience in affected individuals.
