Thales

Thales of Miletus was an ancient Greek philosopher, mathematician, and astronomer, credited as one of the first thinkers to explore the nature of the world using reason and observation rather than mythology. He is often regarded as a founder of Western philosophy and is known for proposing that water is the fundamental substance of all things. Thales also made contributions to geometry and predicted a solar eclipse around 585 BC. His ideas laid the groundwork for later scientific thought and inquiry, emphasizing the importance of understanding the natural world through systematic investigation.
