Terman Study (Genetic Studies of Genius)
The Terman Study, also known as the Genetic Studies of Genius, was initiated in the early 20th century by psychologist Lewis Terman. He focused on gifted children, identifying 1,500 youngsters with high IQs and tracking their development over decades. The study aimed to understand the traits and life outcomes of these individuals, exploring the interplay of intelligence, environment, and achievement. Terman found that many of these gifted individuals led successful, fulfilling lives, but also noted that intelligence alone does not guarantee happiness or success. The study has contributed significantly to the fields of psychology and education.
