Ted Fujita
Ted Fujita was a Japanese-American meteorologist best known for developing the Fujita Scale, which measures tornado intensity based on the damage they cause. Born in 1920, he contributed significantly to understanding severe weather phenomena. His scale ranges from F0 (light damage) to F5 (incredible damage) and helped to systematize tornado classifications, improving storm prediction and safety measures. Fujita also advanced the study of microbursts, which are sudden downdrafts that can cause severe wind damage. His research has had a lasting impact on meteorology, enhancing our ability to forecast and mitigate the effects of severe weather events.
