Taino language

The Taíno language is an extinct Arawakan language that was primarily spoken by the Taíno people, who inhabited the Caribbean, especially in areas like Hispaniola and Puerto Rico, before European colonization. It is part of the larger Arawakan language family, which includes various languages spoken throughout South America and the Caribbean. Although the language itself is no longer spoken, many Taíno words have been absorbed into modern Caribbean Spanish, such as "hammock" and "barbecue." The Taíno culture and language are important in understanding the history and heritage of the indigenous peoples of the Caribbean.
