Taifa of Granada
The Taifa of Granada was a small Muslim kingdom that existed in southern Spain during the period of fragmentation following the decline of the Caliphate of Córdoba, roughly from the 11th to the 13th centuries. It was one of many independent Muslim states, known as taifas, that emerged as central authority weakened. Granada became a prominent taifa, renowned for its culturally rich courts, advanced architecture, and strong defenses. It played a significant role in the political and artistic life of medieval Al-Andalus, until it eventually fell to the Christian Reconquista in 1492, marking the end of Muslim rule in the Iberian Peninsula.
