Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya is a Belarusian politician and former presidential candidate who gained prominence during the 2020 Belarusian presidential election. Running against the long-time leader Alexander Lukashenko, she emerged as a symbol of the pro-democracy movement after her husband was arrested. Tsikhanouskaya's campaign focused on democratic reforms and human rights. Following the election, which was widely regarded as fraudulent, she went into exile for safety. Tsikhanouskaya has since become a leading voice for Belarusian democracy, advocating for political change and international support against repression in her country.
