Surgeonfish

Surgeonfish are a group of colorful marine fish belonging to the family Acanthuridae, commonly found in coral reefs across tropical and subtropical oceans. They are easily recognized by the sharp spines, or "scalpel-like" structures, located on either side of their tails, which they use for defense. Surgeonfish are herbivorous, feeding mainly on algae, and play a vital role in maintaining the health of coral reefs by controlling algal growth. Popular in aquariums for their vibrant colors, they include species like the blue tang and yellow tang, contributing to marine biodiversity.
