Subcontractor's Lien
A subcontractor's lien is a legal claim that subcontractors can place on a property if they are not paid for their work on that property. If a general contractor hires subcontractors and fails to pay them, those subcontractors can file a lien against the property owner. This lien acts as a warning that the property may be at risk for having to cover unpaid debts. Ultimately, if the debt is not resolved, the subcontractor may be able to force the sale of the property to recover the owed payment.
