Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus

Subacute cutaneous lupus erythematosus (SCLE) is a type of lupus, an autoimmune disease where the immune system mistakenly attacks the body's tissues. SCLE specifically causes skin rashes, often triggered by sunlight or certain medications. These rashes typically appear as red, scaly patches, mainly on sun-exposed areas like the arms and chest. Unlike other forms of lupus, SCLE doesn't usually cause serious internal organ damage, but it can significantly affect the skin. Treatment often involves avoiding sunlight, using topical medications, and sometimes systemic treatments to manage symptoms effectively.
