Structural poverty
Structural poverty refers to the enduring and systemic causes of poverty that are embedded within the social, economic, and political systems of a society. Unlike temporary financial hardship, structural poverty stems from factors such as unequal access to education, employment opportunities, healthcare, and affordable housing. It often affects marginalized groups, making it difficult for them to escape poverty despite their efforts. This form of poverty is sustained by institutional barriers and societal inequalities, indicating that personal choices alone do not determine one's socioeconomic status. Addressing structural poverty requires comprehensive policy changes and societal commitment to equity.
