Strontium
Strontium is a chemical element with the symbol Sr and atomic number 38. It belongs to the same group as calcium on the periodic table, which means it shares similar properties. Strontium occurs naturally in rocks, minerals, and soil, often found alongside calcium. It can imitate calcium in biological systems, affecting bones and teeth. Although stable isotopes are harmless, some forms of radioactive strontium, like strontium-90, are byproducts of nuclear reactions and can be hazardous if ingested, as they tend to accumulate in bones and increase cancer risk.
