Stroke Volume
Stroke volume is the amount of blood the heart pumps out with each beat. When your heart contracts, it pushes blood into your arteries, delivering oxygen and nutrients throughout your body. Stroke volume depends on factors like the strength of the heart’s muscles and the amount of blood filling the heart before it contracts. On average, it’s about 70 milliliters per beat in a healthy adult. This measurement helps determine how effectively your heart is functioning and is a key component of cardiac output, which is the total blood flow your heart provides per minute.
