Stratton Oakmont

Stratton Oakmont was a brokerage firm founded in the late 1980s by Jordan Belfort and Danny Porush. It became notorious for its aggressive and often illegal sales tactics, including pump-and-dump schemes, where they would inflate the price of stocks and sell them off at a profit, leaving investors with worthless shares. The firm manipulated stock prices and misled investors, leading to significant financial losses for many. In the mid-1990s, it was shut down by regulators, and Belfort was sentenced to prison. Stratton Oakmont is often cited as a prime example of Wall Street excess and fraud.
