Spleen

The spleen is an organ located on the left side of your abdomen, near your stomach. It plays a crucial role in the immune system by helping identify and fight infections. The spleen also filters your blood, removing old or damaged red blood cells and recycling iron from them. Additionally, it stores healthy blood cells and platelets for use if needed, such as during bleeding. While not essential for survival, the spleen contributes significantly to blood health and immune defense. If damaged or diseased, it can have a notable impact on your overall health.
