SPD

SPD, or Sensory Processing Disorder, is a condition where the brain has difficulty receiving, organizing, and responding to sensory information from the environment and the body. This can cause over- or under-reactivity to stimuli like sounds, textures, lights, or movement. For example, someone may find certain noises painfully loud or be unaware of pain or temperature changes. SPD affects daily functioning and social interactions, and while it’s often identified in children, it can also persist into adulthood. Treatment typically involves occupational therapy to help individuals better interpret and respond to sensory information.
