Somalia Intervention

The Somalia Intervention refers to a military and humanitarian effort by the United States and the United Nations in the early 1990s, aimed at addressing a severe famine and civil conflict in Somalia. As violence escalated, millions faced starvation. In 1992, U.S. troops were deployed to secure food distribution and protect aid workers. However, the situation deteriorated, culminating in the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993, where American soldiers faced heavy losses. The intervention highlighted the challenges of humanitarian missions in conflict zones and raised questions about foreign involvement in internal disputes. Ultimately, U.S. forces withdrew later that year.
