Al-Shabaab

Al-Shabaab is a militant Islamist group based in Somalia, aiming to establish a strict Islamic state. Originating in 2006, it has engaged in violent attacks in Somalia and neighboring countries, targeting government institutions, civilians, and international forces. The group operates under a radical interpretation of Islamic law and seeks to undermine the Somali government, often using guerrilla tactics, terrorism, and insurgency. Despite being designated a terrorist organization by many countries, Al-Shabaab maintains regional influence, primarily in southern Somalia, and remains a significant security threat in the Horn of Africa.
