Soap

Soap is a cleaning agent made from natural fats or oils combined with an alkali, such as lye. It works by reducing the surface tension of water, allowing it to more effectively penetrate and lift dirt and grease. Soap molecules have two ends: one that is hydrophilic (attracted to water) and another that is hydrophobic (repelled by water). When mixed with water, soap molecules surround dirt and oil, forming micelles that can be rinsed away, allowing for cleaning. It’s widely used for personal hygiene, household cleaning, and various industrial applications.
