Snowball Sampling
Snowball sampling is a method used in research to find participants when it's difficult to locate them directly. It starts with a few known individuals who meet the study criteria. These people then refer or introduce the researcher to others they know who also fit the criteria. As more participants are recruited, the sample "snowballs" into a larger group. This technique is useful for studying hard-to-reach populations or specific communities, relying on personal networks to expand the sample efficiently. However, it may introduce bias because participants tend to refer people within their own social circles.
