Smeaton's Tower
Smeaton's Tower is a famous lighthouse located on Eddystone Rocks, off the coast of Cornwall, England. Built in 1759 by engineer John Smeaton, it was one of the first structures to use concrete and is notable for its robust design. The lighthouse stands 14 meters tall and features a distinctive dark-colored base with a smooth, white upper section. Smeaton’s innovative techniques influenced lighthouse construction worldwide. It was decommissioned in 1882 and later moved to Plymouth Hoe, where it now serves as a historic monument and a popular tourist attraction, symbolizing maritime safety and engineering progress.
