slugging percentage

Slugging percentage is a baseball statistic that measures a player's power-hitting ability. It calculates the total number of bases a player earns from hits, divided by their total at-bats. Unlike batting average, which only counts hits, slugging considers the value of each hit: a single counts as one base, a double as two, a triple as three, and a home run as four. The result is a number that reflects how effectively a player gets on base and how far they advance. A higher slugging percentage indicates a player is more capable of hitting for power.
