Sleep Terrors
Sleep terrors, also known as night terrors, are a type of sleep disorder characterized by sudden, intense episodes of fear or panic during sleep. They typically occur in children but can affect adults as well. During an episode, a person may scream, thrash around, or appear confused, often with their eyes wide open, but they usually remain asleep and may not remember the event later. Sleep terrors are different from nightmares, as they occur in deep sleep and are not tied to vivid dreams. Stress, fatigue, and sleep deprivation can contribute to their occurrence.
