Sir Herbert Kitchener
Sir Herbert Kitchener (1850-1916) was a British Army officer and colonial administrator, most famous for his role during the Second Anglo-Boer War in South Africa and as a key figure in World War I. He is known for his "Your Country Needs You" recruitment campaign, which popularized the enlistment of soldiers for the war. Kitchener's strategies were often controversial, as he employed total warfare tactics. He died when the ship he was on sank after hitting a mine in the North Sea, leaving behind a legacy of military leadership and significant influence in British imperial history.
