Silk production
Silk production, known as sericulture, involves raising silkworms to harvest silk fibers. The process begins with female moths laying eggs, which hatch into caterpillars. These caterpillars, primarily of the species Bombyx mori, consume mulberry leaves and grow rapidly. Once they reach maturity, they spin cocoons made of silk thread. After allowing the cocoons to dry, they are boiled or steamed to extract the silk fibers. These threads are then woven into fabric. Known for its softness and luster, silk has been prized for centuries and remains a luxury material in clothing and textiles worldwide.
