Cocoons

A cocoon is a stage in the life cycle of certain insects, like silkworms, where the larva transforms into an adult. It is a protective, silken casing spun around itself during metamorphosis. The cocoon shields the developing insect from external harm while it undergoes significant changes inside. Once the transformation is complete, an adult insect, such as a moth or butterfly, emerges by breaking out of the cocoon. Cocoons are often used by humans to produce silk, as the silk fibers are harvested from the cocoon threads.
