Siege of Antioch

The Siege of Antioch (1097–1098) was a major event during the First Crusade, where Christian armies besieged the city of Antioch in the Holy Land, held by Muslim forces. The crusaders faced harsh conditions and internal conflicts while surrounding the city, which was heavily fortified. After months of siege and setbacks, including being temporarily forced to withdraw, they finally captured Antioch. However, shortly after, they faced a counterattack. The siege was critical in establishing the crusaders’ presence in the region and demonstrated their determination and resilience in the face of formidable defenses.
