
Shea Stadium (New York)
Shea Stadium was a multi-purpose sports venue located in Queens, New York, primarily known as the home of the New York Mets baseball team from 1964 to 2008. It also hosted the New York Jets football team from 1964 to 1983. Designed in a modernist style, the stadium was notable for its distinct orange and blue color scheme and its large, distinctive rooftop. Shea Stadium witnessed many historic events, including several World Series and concerts by major artists. It was demolished in 2009, and the site now houses the new Citi Field and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.
