Sensation

Sensation is the process by which our sensory organs—such as the eyes, ears, skin, nose, and tongue—detect external stimuli like light, sound, pressure, and chemicals. These organs convert the stimuli into electrical signals that are sent to the brain, allowing us to perceive and interpret the world around us. In essence, sensation is how our body gathers information from the environment, serving as the foundation for perception, which is the brain’s interpretation and meaningful understanding of that information.
