Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT)

Selective Internal Radiation Therapy (SIRT) is a medical treatment primarily used for certain types of liver cancer. It delivers targeted radiation directly to tumors through small beads that contain radioactive material. These beads are inserted into the blood vessels supplying the tumor, allowing high doses of radiation to attack cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. This therapy can help shrink tumors, control symptoms, and improve quality of life. SIRT is often used when surgery isn't an option or to complement other treatments.
