Secondary Osteoporosis
Secondary osteoporosis is a form of bone loss that occurs as a result of an underlying medical condition, medication, or hormonal imbalance. Unlike primary osteoporosis, which is typically age-related and linked to natural degeneration of bone, secondary osteoporosis can stem from factors such as chronic diseases (like diabetes or arthritis), prolonged use of corticosteroids, or hormonal disorders. This condition weakens bones, increasing the risk of fractures. Identifying and treating the underlying causes can help manage and potentially reverse the bone loss associated with secondary osteoporosis.
